Softswitch Featured ArticleREDCOM Details Information about Slice IP SoftswitchJanuary 28, 2011
Recently officials of REDCOM Labs released information about The Slice IP, an advanced Class 4/5 softswitch core powered by TRANSip, Redcom’s VoIP technology suite that provides an IP communications product. In its 1U platform, Slice IP with TRANSip integrates IP Multimedia Subsystem (News It has a simple integrated design that makes it easy to deploy, reducing installation, and operating costs while delivering what company officials call "new revenue-generating features. Flexible compression methods are built-in, helping service providers manage low-revenue subscribers by reducing bandwidth usage, while retaining high-end subscribers with premium services." The SIP-based VoIP & trunking capabilities it has allow service provides to take advantage of their broadband deployment while adding new revenue. The product's capabilities "ensure that service providers' network resources fit their business model for current and future growth," Redcom officials say, "allowing them to quickly adapt to new communications requirements." The Slice IP is scalable and flexible for future growth, one of its major selling points, company officials believe. Its scalability allows the Slice IP to be stacked with another Slice IP, increasing the subscriber base up to 4,000 per node. Its interoperable flexibility also allows the Slice IP to be stacked with Redcom's flagship Slice 2100 system when access to TDM or legacy protocols is needed, company officials say: "The Slice IP can be custom-configured for multiple applications, including Corporate Networks, Central Offices, Emergency Response, Call Centers and Command & Control." It also comes with virtually unlimited SIP trunking, "a powerful way to build your business," company officials say. SIP trunking is a way for service providers to use their IP network to provide voice service. To get started with SIP trunking, all that is required is a TRANSip-equipped Slice IP softswitch, which includes a SIP Call Manager and an IP network, and you will be on your way to implementing robust SIP trunking capabilities. With proper network assessment planning and implementation, SIP trunks can deliver high quality and reliable service with substantial cost savings. David Sims is a contributing editor for TMCnet. Softswitch White Papers
Communications, by phone, fax, email, and more, are key to conducting business. As such, national economies are completely reliant upon the telephone companies that provide these services.
Military communications today are diverse and converged technology networks. The convergence of tactical and strategic networks around a broad range of technologies, including VoIP, TDM, SATCOM, cellular, tactical radios, SCIP cryptographic devices, WiFi, and WiMAX, make it a very challenging heterogeneous environment in which to deploy, network and operate.
