Softswitch solutions are a critical component in the VoIP telecommunications network. They replace the hardware in physical switchboards that were used to route calls.
In a significant development in the VoIP softswitch segment, PortaOne (News - Alert), a provider of software for the communications and utility industries, announced interoperability of its PortaSwitch VoIP billing/subscriber management platform with the Direct Inward Dialing (DID) access solutions from DIDWW, a supplier of IP-based communications services.
The interoperability allows to provide telecom carriers and resellers with a complete end-to-end DID service lineup in over 60 countries on five continents, the companies said after the interoperability test. The interoperability test brings additional value to resellers and greatly simplifies operations for carriers and service providers using PortaSwitch.
PortaSwitch, a software-based communications services and subscriber management platform from PortaOne, allows IP telephony service providers to deliver a wide variety of business models quickly and flexibly.
Important components of PortaSwitch include a softswitch and application servers, and provides billing and provisioning, SIP call control, unified messaging, IP Centrex and IP PBX (News - Alert), voice VPN, callback management and conferencing.
The robust softswitch solution has the ability to handle complete call control, routing, proxying, and converged billing functions of a diversified digital services company.
"In an age when simplicity in call dialing is more important than ever, DIDWW offers an indispensable suite of services to providers and end users," said Roman Khalenkov, sales and marketing director for PortaOne, in a statement. "We're pleased that DIDWW's infrastructure is proven to operate seamlessly with PortaSwitch, as it will deliver valuable new options to PortaSwitch customers."
The combined expertise in VoIP products and systems of PortaOne and DIDWW allows them to deliver proven, interoperable and complete solutions to customers, said Yuri Krichevsky, CTO at DIDWW.
Recently PortaOne announced that its PortaSwitch platform has been selected by WorldCall, a Belgium-based provider of VoIP solutions that address the needs of its customers that include service providers, resellers and end users.
