The U.S. Defense Department has made it clear that unified communications (UC) will be a key element in its bid to extend sophisticated IT capabilities to all users across its sprawling worldwide enterprise, including warfighters on the far edges of the battlefield. REDCOM (News - Alert), a developer and manufacturer of digital and IP-enabled telecommunications systems for carriers, utilities, emergency response and defense applications, is one company the Department of Defense (DoD) has turned to for UC solutions.
REDCOM will exhibit its unified capabilities approved products list (UC APL) listed HDX•C and SLICE Command and Control family of products, including the recently released SLICE 2100 Micro, at MILCOM 2012 from Oct. 29 to Nov. 1 at the Gaylord Palms Convention Center, Orlando, Fla.
The UC APL is the single consolidated list of products that have completed Interoperability (IO) and Information Assurance (IA) certification. Use of the DoD UC APL allows army and DoD components to purchase and operate UC systems over all DoD network infrastructures.
REDCOM systems are built to perform reliably and consistently, and are rugged and field-proven in the harshest environments. It builds the interfaces and supports the protocols that enable secure and interoperable communications for government and defense users. REDCOM’s portfolio of JITC-tested and certified switching equipment delivers highly secure, interoperable, rugged and reliable VoIP solutions for tactical and strategic applications.
Whether warfighters need the portability and small footprint of REDCOM’s SLICE 2100, SLICE 2100 Micro or SLICE IP Micro for tactical communications deployments, or the scalable and stackable HDX for reachback support in the field, REDCOM has the solution to meet DoD requirements.

“With the Version 4.0 certification and listing on DISA’s UC APL, warfighters on today’s modern battlefield can be confident when it comes to the extensive interoperability and reliability of REDCOM products operating in a joint environment,” said Dinah Gueldenpfennig, executive vice president, REDCOM, in a statement.
The SLICE 2100 Micro packs the communications power of REDCOM’s SLICE 2100 into a box as small as a hardcover book. Powered by REDCOM’s TRANSip VoIP technology suite together with an integrated Media Gateway (News
