SS7 solutions provider Squire Technologies has reportedly expanded its footprint into Asia, with Asian system integrator AsiaTel choosing the company’s Media Gateway Controller for one of its clients.
The client has reportedly been using Cisco (News
- Alert) PGW, which recently reached its end of life, necessitating a suitable upgrade. With Cisco announcing the End of Life of its PGW range of softswitches and software, one of the key concerns of the client was how to continue using the Cisco equipment without failing to access new networks.
Compatibility with Cisco AS5400 Media Gateways remained on the top of the AsiaTel’s agenda, when it was looking for replacement for Cisco PGW. Offering full interoperability with the PGW as well as the Media Gateways from Alcatel-Lucent (News
- Alert) and AudioCodes, Squire’s Media Gateway Controller is believed to enable AsiaTel’s customer to continue to use their incumbent Cisco Media Gateways while achieving connectivity between TDM and VoIP networks, Squire explained in a news statement.
Squire’s Media Gateway (News
- Alert) Controller has been installed remotely on the end customer’s own servers. Offered as a software only option, the MGC allowed the customers to deploy it on its own server and save a considerable amount of money as a result. The remote deployment was completed quickly, proving once again the efficacy of this mode of installation.
With Cisco announcing the End of Life of their PGW products, Squire Technologies experienced a surge in their Media Gateway Controller sales throughout 2012.
