Dell' (News
- Alert)Oro Group, a provider of marketing data related to the networking and telecommunications industries, recently carried out a study regarding the service providers’ expenditures for key voice equipment in the networking and telecommunications industries. As per the study, the expenditures for the voice equipment are forecasted to stay stable at practically $7 billion annually for the upcoming five years.
For the last five years, the networking and telecommunications industries have been experiencing a downfall. The downfalls in established product divisions like softswitch and media gateway are likely to be counterbalanced by development divisions like IP multimedia subsystem or IMS core, voice, application servers and session border controllers (SBC).
In a statement, Chris DePuy, vice president, Dell'Oro Group, said, "What has changed is that service providers are now offering commercial Voice over LTE (News - Alert) systems in Korea and the United States. The underlying IMS architecture enables not just voice, but also messaging, file transfer and video calls. As service providers deploy these services, they will be more effective in competing with Over-the-Top services that consumers purchase directly with their smartphones. We expect to see a significant increase in IMS-based commercial deployments over the next year."
Regardless of the unpredictable results from several vendors in this market, there are no changes for the forecasts for the SBC market. Voice over LTE subscribers, IMS core equipment, softswitch and media gateway equipment and enterprise session border controllers have also been included in the projection report from Dell'Oro Group. The report also includes details of vendors like Acme Packet, Alcatel-Lucent, Broadsoft, GENBAND (News - Alert), Huawei, Metaswitch, Nokia-Siemens Networks, Sonus, and ZTE.
A comprehensive outline of the Carrier IP telephony industry has been provided by the Dell'Oro Group carrier IP telephony five-year forecast report. The report comprises of tables detailing manufacturers' profits, average selling costs, license/channel consignments for IMS Core, both CSCF and HSS, softswitches, media gateways, session border controllers and voice application servers. An analysis of VoLTE has also been incorporated in the report.
In-depth, goal-oriented research and analysis are provided by Dell'Oro Group, allowing component manufacturers, equipment vendors, and investment firms to take fact-based, key decisions.
