Italtel, a major player in the development and integration of fixed and mobile networks, and Tieto, a provider of services for building and maintaining IT systems, recently signed a partnership agreement allowing Polish operator TK Telekom to deliver advanced Triple Play (News - Alert) services to its residential and business customers. In other words, the agreement widens the range of solutions available to service providers in terms of Next Generation Network (NGN) solutions.
"Our clients in Poland will be able to benefit from additional solutions in the scope of access to broadband Internet network, IP telecom or highly efficient HD quality image and sound transmission. What is more, part of the said solutions will be accessible in SaaS (News - Alert) model service," said Zbigniew Dlugosz, sales department director at Tieto Poland, in a statement.
For TK Telekom to be able to deliver these advanced services, part of its current network must be replaced with the implementation of the Intelligent Network platform enabling service delivery. Furthermore, implementing solutions from Italtel (News - Alert) and Tieto will enable optimized network resource management.
Tieto's Intelligent Network platform is a flexible solution based on JAIN SLEE (Service Logic Execution Environment) technology and an SS7 protocol stack. Italtel, meanwhile, will provide a C4/C5 platform, which is based partially on a state-of-the-art i-MCS 2.0 (Italtel Multimedia Communication Suite) solution.
This solution is a carrier-grade multimedia softswitch that covers Class 5 functionalities, namely interconnection with other TDM and IP networks and transit networks. Compliant with IETF and 3GPP/ITSPAN specifications for VoIP and IMS/NGN networks, this product uses the infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model, enabling a modular, flexible design.
Based on Italtel's successful iMSS softswitch, i-MCS is the new convergent product from the company for fixed and mobile service providers able to handle newer IP access technologies such as xDSL, fiber and LTE (News
), as well as legacy networks such as POTS/ISDN.
