Softswitch Featured ArticleTadiran Telecom Deploys IP Telephony at Leading Vietnamese Commercial BankJanuary 12, 2009
Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (or BIDV) is one of the Southeast Asian nation’s largest state-owned commercial banks, with more than 100 branches, transaction offices, and subsidiary locations. The financial institution was looking for a solution that would enable it to connect all its branches allowing them to communicate amongst themselves for low to no cost via voice over IP (VoIP).
The Israeli telecom equipment provider has announced that its solutions, including Tadiran Coral systems, have been chosen by BIDV to provide an IP telephony network throughout the country, in a project valued at over $3 million.
Tadiran’s Coral communications systems function as VoIP telephony servers, traditional switches, or both, combining feature-rich IP technology with traditional TDM telephony. The solutions support MGCP and SIP telephony connectivity, ISP connection via SIP trunks, as well as a host of other IP-related features.
In the case of the BIDV deployment, the network architecture resembles a private network, so that every phone has a four-digit number within the network, enabling seamless communication between branches.
Reportedly, other solutions providers, including Avaya, Alcatel, Siemens (News - Alert), and NEC were also competing to win the BIDV contract. Tadiran Telecom officials were very pleased with the win and pointed to the company’s technology innovation as having positioned it ahead of the competition and as a leading player in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) market.
“Vietnam is one of the fastest growing ICT markets in the world. Vietnamese companies and institutions seek the cost-efficiency and flexibility provided by IP telephony networks and we are happy to oblige.” said Zeev Aviv, VP of Sales and Marketing at Tadiran Telecom. “The contract with BIDV further strengthens our position in two of our strategically chosen markets: Bank telephony networks and the emerging Vietnam ICT market.”
Back in November, Tadiran Telecom announced the release of the latest version of its Coral Sea Navigator, designed to bring unified communications (UC) functionality and multimedia over IP to Coral Sea softswitch customers. Coral Sea Softswitch is a uniquely rich-client, unified single-server solution designed to provide organizations with a single platform for more reliable, efficient and cost-effective business interactions. Softswitch White Papers
Communications, by phone, fax, email, and more, are key to conducting business. As such, national economies are completely reliant upon the telephone companies that provide these services.
Military communications today are diverse and converged technology networks. The convergence of tactical and strategic networks around a broad range of technologies, including VoIP, TDM, SATCOM, cellular, tactical radios, SCIP cryptographic devices, WiFi, and WiMAX, make it a very challenging heterogeneous environment in which to deploy, network and operate.
