Softswitch Featured ArticleSoftswitch Report: REDCOM Targets Service Providers Looking to Lower Costs, Increase Profit MarginsJanuary 18, 2010
Though the global economy is steadily improving, responsible telecom service providers are still searching for ways to lower operating expenditures and increase margins.
And it helps if they can do this while offering new value-added services to their subscriber base.
One of the emerging companies whose top goal is to help these telecom service providers is REDCOM (News - Alert), which makes softswitch technology.
“One of the great benefits of the REDCOM system is that it does not require recurring expenditures like mandatory service agreements,” Carlos Sánchez, REDCOM Laboratories vice president of sales for the Americas, told TMCnet.“When you’re looking to add new services, REDCOM has you covered when it comes to interoperability with other solutions out there.”
REDCOM’s HDX is a carrier class platform, that is class 4/5 approved in the United States. Offering industry-standard SIP functionality, HDX with TRANSip is compatible with standards-based SIP phones, so you don’t have to worry about being trapped by proprietary VoIP phones or protocols. HDX includes both current IPv4 and IPv6 capabilities, giving the user flexibility to make the transition at no extra cost.
REDCOM’s TRANSip-enabled products and the SLICE 2100 platform offer cable operators the opportunity to provide voice services over their network. TRANSip technology converges VoIP and TDM interfaces in a single unit. REDCOM’s TRANSip interfaces with the cable operator’s existing data network and offers VoIP connectivity for end devices or trunking between sites.
“REDCOM HDX softswitch products and the Slice 2100 – those are carrier-class softswitch platforms that enable service providers to deploy flexible networks that can adapt to increasing end user demand and competitive industry dynamics at a lower operating cost,” Sánchez said.

Softswitch White Papers
Communications, by phone, fax, email, and more, are key to conducting business. As such, national economies are completely reliant upon the telephone companies that provide these services.
Military communications today are diverse and converged technology networks. The convergence of tactical and strategic networks around a broad range of technologies, including VoIP, TDM, SATCOM, cellular, tactical radios, SCIP cryptographic devices, WiFi, and WiMAX, make it a very challenging heterogeneous environment in which to deploy, network and operate.
